Iran’s Assaluyeh crackers down on seawater transfer line failure

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Iran’s Arya Sasol, Jam Petrochemical and Morvarid Petrochemical have shut their crackers at Assaluyeh over the weekend following a failure of the seawater transfer line, a source close to the companies said on Tuesday.

“The crackers were shut two days ago and repairs to the seawater transfer line will continue until this weekend at least,” he added.

Arya Sasol's cracker can produce 1 m tonnes/year of ethylene whereas Jam's facility has a nameplate capacity of 1.32 m tonnes/year.

Morvarid Petrochemical’s cracker has an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes.

The crackers were operating at 50-60% of their capacities prior to the outage, the source said.
