SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Taekwang Industrial plans to shut its 250,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant in Ulsan in February for three weeks of scheduled turnaround, a company source said on Friday.

The plant, which can produce up to 280,000 tonnes/year of ACN based on its nameplate capacity, will be shut from 13 February to 5 March, the source said.

“We have limited spot availability as we are building up stocks ahead of its turnaround in February,” the source said.
Asia ACN spot prices were assessed at $1,750-1,800/tonne (€1,313-1,350/tonne) CFR (cost and freight) northeast (NE) Asia in the week ended 2 December, up by about $200/tonne since early November, ICIS data showed.
