Thai PTT Global Chemical eyes 25 Dec restart for I-4 No 1 cracker

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Chemical plans to restart operations at its 515,000 tonne/year I-4 No 1 cracker at Map Ta Phut on 25 December after a shutdown caused by problems at the unit’s quench tower early this month, a company source said on Friday.

The cracker was operating at 85% capacity prior to the outage on 7 December, according to the source, adding that it has no requirements to buy ethylene at the moment.

PTT also operates three other gas-based crackers at the site which have a combined ethylene nameplate capacity of 1.86m tonnes/year. These crackers are still running normally, the source added.
