SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Henan Shenma is running its new 50,000 tonne/year adipic acid (ADA) plant in Henan province at close to full rates after starting it up on 30 November, a company source said on Friday.

The plant’s ADA output will be made available in the market for sale, the source added.

“We estimate we might have 5,000 tonnes for sale every month,” he added.

The company already runs a 150,000 tonne/year ADA plant, which supplies a downstream 200,000 tonne/year nylon 6,6 (polyamide 6,6) plant at the same site in central China.

ADA is used in the manufacture of nylon 6,6, polyurethane (PU), plasticisers, hexamethylene adipate, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and resins for shoe soles.
