HOUSTON (ICIS)--October US polycarbonate (PC) exports were up by 26% year on year, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.
Exports increased to 35,391 tonnes from 28,194 tonnes in October 2010.
The increase was the result of greater volume shipped to China, Mexico, Canada, Korea and Hong Kong.
October exports trailed September exports by 11%.
Imports also fell year on year by 33% with 3,583 tonnes imported in October 2011, compared with 5,364 tonnes imported a year ago.
Month on month, imports fell by 6% from 3,799 tonnes in September.
US imports the most PC from Canada, Singapore, Thailand, Japan and Germany.
US producers of PC include Bayer, SABIC and Styron.
