SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Engineering firm China National Automation Control System Corp (CACS) will build a 5m tonne/year refinery in Cambodia, in partnership with the Cambodian Petrochemical Company, a source from CACS said on Monday.

Construction of the $2bn (€1.5bn) project to be located in Kampot province in southern Cambodia will start in April 2012 and is slated for completion in 2014, the source said.

The project will also include a 1.8m tonne/year catalytic cracking unit, a 1m tonne/year diesel-hydrogenated unit and a 2.4m tonne/year catalytic reforming unit and other facilities, the source said.

The investment will help enhance Cambodia’s security of fuel supply, the source said.

CACS is a subsidiary of China Machinery Industry Corp (SINOMACH).
