HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethyl acetate (etac) exports in October dropped by nearly 43% to 1,223 tonnes, compared with 2,127 tonnes in the same month of 2010, according US International Trade Commission (ITC) data obtained on Monday.
Most of the drop came from smaller export destinations that did not rank among the top 10, according to the ITC data.
Canada, Ecuador and Mexico continued as the top three export destinations, receiving 1,213 tonnes or 99% of all etac shipments in October.
Etac is a major ingredient in inks and coatings, particularly in nail polish.
Major US etac producers include Celanese, Eastman Chemical and Solutia, whose material is marketed by Celanese.
