Thai Fatty Alcohols restarts 100,000 tonne/year Rayong plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thai Fatty Alcohol (TFA) has restarted its 100,000 tonne/year fatty alcohol plant in Thailand’s Rayong province as scheduled after a turnaround, a company source said on Tuesday.

“We believe the plant will be running at full capacity by next week,” the source said.

The plant was shut down in late November for annual maintenance and restarted on 10 December.

TFA is owned by Thai Oleochemicals (TOL), a subsidiary of PTT Chemical.

Fatty alcohols originate from vegetable oil and are traditionally used in the personal care, cosmetics and detergent industries.

The chemical is used in industrial applications including alcohol ethoxylates (AEO), which have a variety of uses in the lubricant and cleaning industries.
