SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Wednesday announced the names of 20 polysilicon makers that have met the standard criteria for the production of the material.
The criteria for the polysilicon industry, called “industry access conditions” that was published earlier this year, states that the capacity of a polysilicon project should not be less than 3,000 tonnes/year and must follow strict environmental restrictions, according to a statement from the MIIT.
After inspections conducted by local MIIT departments, development and reform commissions, and environmental protection bureaus, the national MIIT has published the list of 20 producers, the statement said.
The list includes Jiangsu Zhongneng Silicon Technology Development, Chongqing Daquan New Energy, Jiangxi LDK Solar, Tianwei Sichuan Silicon and Sichuan Yongxiang Polysilicon, the statement showed.
This is the first list of approved polysilicon makers to be announced by the MIIT.
The ministry did not specify when it will announce the remaining companies that have met the standard criteria set for the industry.
