DUBAI (ICIS)--Iran’s Jam Petrochemical will start a trial run at its Asaluyeh-based butene-1 facility at the end of March 2012, a company source said on Wednesday.

The unit's nameplate capacity is 100,000 tonnes/year, the source said on the sidelines of the Sixth Annual Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Forum held in Dubai from 13-15 December.

“Half of the butene-1 output will be captive-used for the downstream production of its linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) at the same site, while the rest will be exported,” he said.

Jam declined to comment on the licence of technology of the butene-1 unit.

Prior to the start-up of this new facility, Jam has been importing butene-1 to feed to its 300,000 tonne/year LLDPE/high density PE swing plant.
