SINGAPORE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>China’s Shenhua Group has started building a 2bn cubic metre (cbm)/year coal-to-natural gas project at Erdos in Inner Mongolia, and is expected to bring it on line in two years, a local government official said on Thursday.
The company started the construction work on 8 December, the official from Erdos Development and Reform Commission said.
“Shenhua Erdos Coal-to-Liquid and Chemical Branch will be responsible for the operation of the plant and sales,” a company source from the Erdos said.
Coal feedstock will be supplied by Shenhua’s coal mines in Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia, according to the source.
State-owned Shenhua Group is a large coal-based integrated energy enterprise with businesses of coal, power generation, railway transport, port, shipping, coal liquefaction and chemicals.
