LONDON (ICIS)--Indian fertilizer manufacturer, Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT), has issued a purchase tender for 25,000 tonnes of granular sulphur, a trader source said on Thursday.

The tender will close on 20 December and offers are requested to remain valid until 26 December, the source added.

FACT has asked for the 25,000 tonnes of sulphur to arrive at Cochin, on 21-24 January 2012.

The manufacturer last bought a sulphur cargo at $239.70/tonne (€185/tonne) CFR (cost and freight) from trader Swiss Singapore under its 2 November purchase tender. Indian sulphur prices have since slipped due to weaker global demand.

Last Indian sales were concluded in the low/mid-$190s/tonne CFR, when Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) bought two Middle East spot cargoes for January shipment to Paradeep in early December.

Additionally, Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (Adnoc) announced its December official selling price for sulphur last week. The price, now set at $205/tonne FOB (free on board) Ruwais, is unlikely to be established under FACT’s new tender as demand remains slow in the sulphur market.
