The 350,000 tonne/year No 1 unit will come off line from March to November in 2012, and the 350,000 tonne/year No 2 PTA plant will be shut from December 2012 to August 2013, the source said.

The shutdown, initially planned in 2011, has been delayed because of favourable market situation for most of the year, he said.
“The rescheduled time [for the shutdown] is good as we expect PTA to be oversupplied and PX to be tight in 2012,” the source said.
An additional 20,000 tonnes of PX will be freed up per month because of the shutdown, which could help relieve the tight PX supply in 2012, a major PX trader said.
Yangzi have no shutdown plan for its 600,000 tonne/year No 3 plant at the same site, the source added.
