SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japanese chemical and fibre producer Teijin announced on Friday it has shifted its fibre production to other plants outside Thailand to minimise the impact on its supply chains and deliveries to its customers.

The decision came after the operations at its three subsidiaries were affected by the flood in Thailand in October, Teijin said in a statement.

The producer shifted its production to Teijin Fibers’ Matsuyama plant in Japan and Teifico Fiber Indonesia, the statement said.

In addition, the company moved some of its production to manufacturers in Taiwan, but did not specify further details, the statement added.

The company is continuing in its effort to restore the operations at its three subsidiaries in Thailand, which includes Teijin Polyester (Thailand) in Pathum Thani province and both Teijin (Thailand) and Teijin Cord (Thailand) in Ayuthaya province, which were affected by the recent flood in the southeast Asian country.

“Group performance is expected to experience a significant impact because of the effects of the flood,” the statement said.
