SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand's PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) has declared a force majeure (FM) on paraxylene (PX) supply from Map Ta Phut late on 14 December following an outage at its facility, market sources said on Friday.
The company shut its 616,000 tonne/year PX unit on 13 December because of a leak, with the restart of the unit expected in the last week of December, the source said.
“PTT did not say how long the FM will last,” said an industry source.
Market sources were earlier expecting a two to three weeks FM.
An official from PTTGC declined comments when contacted by ICIS.
