OCI said the demerger would “enhance the long term value creation capabilities” of both the fertilizer and the construction business.
OCI’s fertilizer business ranks among the world’s leading nitrogen fertilizer producers, with capacities expected to exceed 7m tonne/year in 2012, it said.
OCI is also a large producer of melamine following its acquisition of DSM’s melamine and fertilizer business last year.
The company expects to complete the demerger during the first quarter of 2012, it said.
