Japan’s Maruzen restarts Chiba cracker as planned after outage

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japanese chemical producer Maruzen Petrochemical restarted its 520,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker at Chiba as scheduled on Wednesday, after a two-week shutdown, a company source said.
“The cracker was restarted this morning,” the source said, but did not comment on the operating rate.
The cracker was taken off line following a fire at the Chiba petrochemical complex on 9 December. An aromatics facility and other production lines at the site were also shut.
