HOUSTON (ICIS)--Shell will take its Norco OL-5 cracker in Louisiana down for maintenance in January, market sources said on Thursday.
It was unclear how long the 862,000 tonne/year unit would be off line, but sources said the planned stoppage referred to routine maintenance rather than a major turnaround.
"Probably only a 2-3 week shutdown if it is not a full turnaround," a market participant said.
A Shell spokesperson declined to comment, citing competitive reasons.
