Taiwan’s Formosa cuts run rates at Mailiao crackers to 80%

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corporation (FPCC) has trimmed the operating rates at its three naphtha crackers in Mailiao to 80% this week from 85% previously, a company source said on Friday.
FPCC operates a 700,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker, a 1.03m tonne/year No 2 unit and a 1.2m tonne/year cracker at Mailiao.
The Formosa source could not say for now if the current rates will continue into January.
Market sources had said earlier on that Formosa would adjust the crackers’ run rates according to demand in the derivatives sectors.
