HOUSTON (ICIS)--President Barack Obama has signed a bill containing a requirement for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to improve its chemical health assessments, it was reported on Friday.
The White House reported that Obama signed HR 2055, an omnibus bill.
The measure includes language requiring the EPA to make improvements to the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) programme, which is supposed to assess the health effects of chemicals in commerce and to form the basis for their regulation.
The programme was criticised earlier this year.
