China’s Qinzhou Petrochemical restarts aromatic unit

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Qinzhou Petrochemical, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), has restarted its aromatic unit at Qinzhou in Guangxi province over the weekend, a company source said on Tuesday.

The producer shut the aromatic unit on 5 December for maintenance.

The unit can produce 90,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 480,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 510,000 tonnes/year of xylenes, the source added.

“The restart will not have a significant impact immediately on the southern market until the new products are sold after 3 January,” the source said, adding that prices were likely to fall after that time.
