China’s Shanxi Nyke to build new solar cell production line

SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s Shanxi Nyke Solar Technology is planning to build a 500 megawatt/year (MW/year) solar cell production facility at Taiyuan in Shanxi province, a company source said on Tuesday.

Construction of the new solar cell production line, an investment of (CNY) 1.23bn ($195m), will begin in January next year and is expected to be completed in June 2015, the source at the solar energy technology research and development firm said.

Shanxi Nyke Solar Technology will also build a new research & development (R&D) center at the same site, according to the source.

Construction of the R&D center, an investment of around CNY269m, is also expected to be completed in June 2015, the source added.
