SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s ChangLe LiHeng Polyamide Technology Corporation plans to start building a 1m tonne/year caprolactam (capro) project next year in Fujian province, a company source said on Wednesday.

The project will be divided into three phases.

The construction of a first-phase of the facility, with a capacity of 400,000 tonne/year, is expected to begin in 2012 but no firm dates have been fixed yet, the source added.

The company is negotiating with Dutch specialty chemical company DSM about capro production technology, the source said.

No other details of the project were immediately available.

The company, which is one of the biggest nylon fibre producers in China, has a capacity of nearly 210,000 tonnes/year of nylon-6 fibre and 80,000 tonnes /year of high-speed spinning semi-dull nylon-6 chips.
