Taiwan’s Shinkong runs new PET line at 100% after 26 Dec start-up

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan's Shinkong Synthetic Fibres is currently running its new 200,000 tonne/year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle chip line in Zhongli at full capacity after starting it up on 26 Dec, a company source said on Thursday.

“We are running in full and our daily output is now [at] 1,600 tonnes,” the source added.

Shinkong Synthetic Fibres previously postponed the start-up at the unit because of incomplete testing and administrative issues.

The company operates another 200,000 tonne/year PET unit at the same site.

Other Asian PET producers include China’s Jiangsu Sanfangxiang, South Korea’s KP Chemical and Thailand-based Indorama Ventures.
