BOGOTA (ICIS)--US-based independent refiner HollyFrontier plans to expand capacity at its Woods Cross refinery in Utah, the company said on Wednesday.
Capacity at the 31,000 barrel/day refinery will be increased to 45,000 barrels/day with an expected completion in late 2014, the company said.
The expansion includes the relocation and revamp of crude, fluid catalytic cracking and polymerisation units as well an expansion of the Woods Cross diesel hydrotreater and investment in associated utilities and offsites, HollyFrontier said.
The company expects incremental yields from the expansion to be approximately 60% gasoline and 40% diesel. The company expects the cost of this expansion to be approximately $225m (€173m).
“With the recent startup of the UNEV pipeline, we will have the option to market additional products from this expansion to Cedar City, Utah, and Las Vegas, as well as to our traditional customers in Salt Lake City and the Inter-Mountain West," said Mike Jennings, chief executive.
The UNEV pipeline is a 406-mile (653 km) pipeline transporting refined products from Salt Lake City, Utah, to terminals in Cedar City and in Las Vegas, Nevada.
