SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jinling Huntsman New Materials is planning to start up a 240,000 tonne/year propylene oxide (PO) plant at Nanjing in Jiangsu province in 2015, a source close to the company said on Thursday.
The yuan (CNY) 4.5bn ($715m) plant will also produce 742,000 tonnes/year of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), using Huntsman’s PO-MTBE technology, the source said.
“The project is currently undergoing the second round of an environmental impact assessment and construction has not begun,” the source said.
“We plan to start up [the unit] in 2015,” the source said, adding that the exact month remains unknown.
Jinling Huntsman New Material is a joint venture between Sinopec Jinling Petrochemical and US-based chemical firm, Huntsman.
