Malaysia’s PETRONAS runs both Labuan methanol units “normally”

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Malaysia’s state-owned PETRONAS is operating its PETRONAS Methanol Labuan (PML) 1 and 2 units, which have a combined capacity of 2.36m tonnes/year, at normal rates, a source from PETRONAS Chemicals Group (PCG) said on Monday.

PML 1 was restarted in early December after a maintenance in November, while PML 2 was restarted in the third week of December after some upstream gasfield work forced the plant to be shut.

Other methanol producers in the region include Indonesia’s Kaltim Methanol Industri (KMI) and Brunei Methanol Company (BMC).
