GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec has discovered shale gas resources at its first exploration well at Lianyuan city in Hunan province early this month, the company said in a statement late on Monday.
The company completed drilling activities at the Xiangye No 1 well on 8 October last year and produced more than 1,000 cubic metres (cbm)/day of gas in the trial stage, according to the statement on Sinopec’s website.
Sinopec expects that commercial production at the well may reach 20,000-100,000 cbm/day.
The volume of reserves at the well has yet to be discovered, Sinopec said.
