HOUSTON (ICIS)--Assessed US truck and railcar spot prices for toluene rose by 5 cents/lb ($110/tonne €86/tonne) on Tuesday from the previous week.
Price increases as assessed by ICIS were in line with a distributor’s comments a week earlier on increasing prices by 4-5 cents/lb.
Spot prices for the solvent were in the range of 54–56 cents/lb USG (US Gulf), while midwest prices were assessed at a 1 cent/lb premium.
Truck and railcar prices for toluene have been impacted by rising nitration-grade barge values, which were assessed in the range of at $3.95-4.00/gal FOB (free on board) USG on Tuesday, up from $3.70-3.80/gal a week earlier.
A distributor in the US Gulf truck market said barge markets in the US Gulf have been strong and may prompt further increases for the next week.
US aromatic solvent producers include CITGO, ExxonMobil, Flint Hills Resources, Sunoco and Total.
