SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Ming Dih Group has completed the expansion of its expandable polystyrene (EPS) facility at Kaohsiung this week and is conducting trial runs, a company source said on Wednesday.
The work on the 166,000 tonne/year unit began in the second half of December 2011. The facility can now produce up to 180,000 tonnes/year of EPS resins.
The expansion was completed ahead of time as the initial plan was to finish the debottlenecking in early February.
“The unit should be fully up and running after the Lunar New Year holiday in late January,” the source added.
The company has another 120,000 tonne/year EPS unit at Zhongshan in south China and a 30,000 tonne/year unit at Bangkok in Thailand.
The other two EPS producers in Taiwan are Loyal Group and Taita Chemicals.
