HOUSTON (ICIS)--Braskem's La Porte polypropylene (PP) in Texas reported a chemical flare after a power outage, according to a regulatory filing made available on Wednesday.
The emissions event, which occured on Tuesday, was the result of the failure of the C boiler due to a loss of power at the facility, the filing states.
The loss of power resulted in the hard shutdown of the C line unit, and flaring to the C flare, according to the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
It was unclear if the unit has been restarted, or if the event resulted in any loss of production at the facility.
A spokesperson for Braskem did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The plant has a capacity of about 390,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS plants and projects.
