SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Indonesia’s state-owned refiner Pertamina plans to reduce the operating rate at its residual catalytic cracker (RCC) to 40-45% from 16 January because of technical issues, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

The unit has a nameplate propylene capacity of 250,000-260,000 tonnes/year, but usually produces around 200,000 tonnes/year of the monomer.

It is currently running at over 90% of capacity, the source said.

Pertamina is exporting two propylene cargoes during January but will have no more volumes for sale because of the reduced operating rate at the plant, he added.
