US paraffin wax imports decrease by 31% in November year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US imports of paraffin wax (p-wax) in November decreased by 31% from November 2010, according to data made available on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Imports of p-wax (less than 0.75% oil) totalled 11,903 tonnes in November, a decrease from the 17,166 tonnes imported in November 2010, and the 17,306 tonnes imported in October 2011.

China, at 8,239 tonnes, was the major source for p-wax in November. Other suppliers of imports included Canada at 1,574 tonnes, India at 629 tonnes and Saudi Arabia at 344 tonnes.

Other sources of p-wax included Belgium, Japan, Malaysia, Germany, Iraq and Netherlands.

US exports of p-wax totalled 3,778 tonnes in November, a decrease from the 4,034 tonnes exported in October, the ITC said.

Major destinations for US p-wax in November included Mexico, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Australia, Chile, Italy, Belgium and Taiwan.
