MOSCOW (ICIS)--Ukraine's authorities have indicated plans to sell a controlling stake in the Odessa Port Plant this year, the country’s State Property Fund (SPF) on Monday.

The SPF included the Odessa Port Plant in the list of state-controlled companies to be privatised later this year, it added.

The 1.5m tonnes/year Odessa plant is Ukraine's second-largest ammonia producer.

Ukraine first announced plans to privatise Odessa Port Plant back in 2004. The 99.567% state-owned stake in the company was previously expected to be auctioned in May 2008.

At the end of September 2009, the stake was auctioned with Ukraine-based Nortima placing the winning bid, however, the country’s authorities cancelled the results of the auction.

In November 2009, the Ukrainian Industrial Policy Ministry said the government could resume attempts to privatise the company in 2010, however, the Odessa Port Plant's privatisation has been held back since then.
