MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Ningbo Zhenyang expects its 15,000 tonne/year methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) plant at Ningbo in Zhejiang province to reach full operating rates in “the next two to three days” following a restart last week, a company official said on Tuesday.
The company restarted the plant on 12 January after the completion of scheduled maintenance, the official said.
“We have been gradually increasing the operating rate [since the restart], and the plant is running at close to full capacity,” added the official.
The plant was brought off line on 18 December.
MIBK, which is derived from acetone, is used mainly as a solvent for industrial paints and thinners and in the production of rubber chemicals.
