Brazilian PVC imports up by 23% in 2011

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Brazilian imports of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) increased by 23% in 2011 compared with 2010 figures, according to government data obtained on Thursday.

Brazil imported 477,706 tonnes of PVC in 2011, up from 386,972 tonnes in 2010.

The imported PVC amounted to nearly $610m (€476m) FOB (free on board), up by 34% from the nearly $454m FOB imported in 2010.

The average price in 2011 was $1,276.73/tonne ­– 9% higher compared with the average price of $1,174.12/tonne in 2010.
