HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethylene production in December totalled 4.623bn lb (2.1m tonnes), a 0.8% increase from 4.586bn lb produced in the same month in 2010, consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy said on Wednesday.
Total ethylene output in December rose by a much larger 5.6% compared with 4.378bn lb in November, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.
But if measured on a daily rate, ethylene production in the US last month climbed by only 2.2% versus November, according to the report.
US crackers operated at 94.3% of capacity in December. The figure is up from 92.2% in November and 90.2% in December 2010, the report showed.
