US Dec butadiene output falls 8.7% year on year - consultant

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) production in December totalled 262m lb (118,841 tonnes), a 8.7% drop from 287m lb produced in the same month in 2010,  Jacobs Consultancy said on Wednesday.

However, BD production in December rose by 6.1% compared with 247m lb produced in November, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.

If measured on a daily rate, BD output last month climbed by 2.9% versus November, according to the report.

US crackers operated at 94.3% of capacity in December. The figure is up from 92.2% in November and 90.2% in December 2010, the report showed.
