HOUSTON (ICIS)--US February benzene contract settled at $4.20/gal ($1,257/tonne, €955/tone), up by 50 cents/gal from January, mostly on the back of strong crude prices, market participants said early Tuesday.

The settlement marks the second consecutive monthly benzene contract increase, and comes alongside ongoing and upcoming turnarounds.

The increase was in line with stronger benzene spot prices above the $4.00/gal mark, as trading participants returned to the markets following the winter holidays.
