Waste-to-ethanol JV to build plant in Canada

HOUSTON (ICIS)--A waste-to-ethanol joint venture plans to build a commercial-scale plant in Varennes, Quebec, in Canada, the company said on Monday.

The joint venture is made up of Enerkem and Greefield Ethanol. The company is receiving $27m (€21m) from the government of Quebec, it said.

The plant will have a capacity of 38m litres/year, and it will rely on municipal solid waste as feedstock, the joint venture said.

The joint venture did not say when the plant would start operations.
