Russia's Sibur petrochemical output in 2011 grows 6.7%

MOSCOW (ICIS)--Sibur’s total production output of petrochemicals in 2011 was 6.7% higher compared with the year before, the Russia-based major petrochemical company said on Wednesday.

The company said it produced 14.42m tonnes of petrochemicals last year compared with 13.53m tonnes in 2010.

On an individual basis, Sibur’s output figures for 2011 were mixed. Last year, the company produced 2.12m tonnes of monomers, down from 2.13m tonnes in 2010, while the group’s production of polymers in 2011 fell to 564,700 tonnes from 592,000 tonnes the year before.

Production of synthetic rubber was also down at 427,600 tonnes in 2011 from 433,500 tonnes in 2010.

However, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production in 2011 amounted to 3.62m tonnes, up from 3.40m tonnes the year before, while production of natural gas liquids rose 6% year on year to 4.18m tonnes.

Sibur's total volume of petrochemical output in 2011 did not include the production of its mineral fertilizers, which grew 3% to 3.04m tonnes from 2.96m tonnes in 2010, the company said.
