SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Indonesia’s state-owned energy firm Pertamina is currently running its aromatics unit in Cilacap at full capacity, said a company source on Thursday.

The unit produces about 270,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene and 110,000 tonnes/year of benzene, the source said.

Pertamina has tentative plans to conduct maintenance at the facility in May that will last about 30 days, the source said.

Benzene supply in southeast Asia has tightened in recent weeks because of a prolonged shutdown at another Indonesian aromatics producer TPPI, as well as low operating rates at the No 3 aromatics facility of Thai producer PTT Global Chemical, market sources said.
