China’s Yunnan Yuntianhua to start up coal-based methanol plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Yunnan Yuntianhua Chemical plans to bring on stream its 260,000 tonne/year coal-based methanol plant at Yunnan in southwest China at the beginning of March, a company source said on Thursday.

The company invested yuan (CNY) 900m ($143m) to build the plant, which will be completed at the end of February, the source said.

Yunnan Yuntianhua Chemical started building the plant at the end of 2010, the source said.

The plant is expected to achieve on-spec production as scheduled in the middle of March, the source added.

The company is a subsidiary of the Yuntianhua Group in Yunnan.
