PKN Orlen, Unipetrol schedule 2012 petchem shutdowns

LONDON (ICIS)--Poland’s PKN Orlen has scheduled several 2012 shutdowns for petrochemical units operated by itself and Czech subsidiary Unipetrol, the group said on Thursday.

Orlen has scheduled a mid-March shutdown of around one week for its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Wloclawek, Poland, and its 400,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) feedstock plant in Plock, and also planned to shutdown its 700,000 tonne/year ethylene unit in Plock from late June to the end of July.

Unipetrol has scheduled a shutdown for its petrochemical complex in Litvinov, Czech Republic, in mid-June to the end of June. The complex’s capacities include 545,000 tonne/year of ethylene, 270,000 tonne/year of propylene, 320,000 tonne/year of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and 275,000 tonne/year of polypropylene (PP).
