SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) is planning to restart its 1m tonne/year ethane cracker in Map Ta Phut next week following an unplanned shutdown, a company source said on Friday.

The cracker was taken off line on 31 January because of a power outage. The exact restart date is still unclear, the source said.

The source added that the company is still not running its derivative 300,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (LDPE) facility and a 400,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) unit at the site.

PTTGC operates three other crackers in the area, with a combined ethylene nameplate capacity of 1.38m tonnes/year. These plants were not affected by the outage.
