TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s domestic shipments of foamed polystyrene (PS) sheets, or polystyrene paper (PSP), in January stood at 6,880 tonnes, a 16% decrease from the previous month, official data showed on Friday.

This reflected lower shipments for all applications including roll trays, general use and laminated bowls, based on the data from the Japan Polystyrene Foamed Sheet Industry Association (JASFA)

On a year-on-year basis, shipments of the product inched up by 1.3%, based on the statistics.

Foamed PS sheets are used for packaging food products such as fresh seafood and meat, as well as bowls for instant noodles.
