SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s Bangkok Synthetics (BST) has awarded a sales tender for a 2,000 tonne butadiene (BD) cargo to a Japanese trading firm at $4,030/tonne (€3,063/tonne) FOB (free on board) Thailand, industry sources said on Monday.
The spot cargo will be shipped out in early March from Map Tha Phut in Thailand to northeast Asia, according to a market source.
Tight supply, strong demand and several producer-to-trader transactions have boosted BD prices.
BD spot prices have more than doubled since November 2011, when they bottomed out at $1,550-1,600/tonne CFR (cost & freight) northeast (NE) Asia.
BD spot prices were at $3,900-4,000/tonne CFR NE Asia in the week ended 10 February 2012, according to ICIS.
