LONDON (ICIS)--Foster Wheeler has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management contract for work on a propylene oxide (PO) unit at the Sadara project in Saudi Arabia, it said on Monday.

The new plant, expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2015, will form part of the world-scale, fully integrated chemicals complex at Jubail Industrial City, the Switzerland-headquartered engineering and construction firm said.

The contract was awarded by joint venture Sadara Chemical’s parent companies, Dow Chemical and Saudi Aramco. Financial details were not disclosed.

Foster Wheeler has previously carried out front-end engineering design work for Dow and Saudi Aramco at the Al-Jubail complex, it said.

The $20bn (€15bn) project will be one of the world’s largest integrated chemical facilities and one of the largest built in a single phase, with 26 manufacturing units, Dow and Saudi Aramco said when they signed the joint-venture agreement in October last year.
