China’s Shandong Hi-tech Chemical starts work on caustic soda unit

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>China’s Shandong Hi-tech Chemical Group started construction of its new 300,000 ion-exchange membrane caustic soda unit at Dongying in Shandong province this week, a company source said on Thursday.
The company also started the construction work of its 120,000 tonne/year epoxy chloropropane unit at the same site, the source said.
A ground breaking ceremony was held on 15 February, the source added.
The two units will cost yuan(CNY) 2.8bn ($445m) and will be build in two phases, the source said without disclosing the exact start-up date of the units.
China’s Shangdong Hi-tech Chemical Group based in Shandong, is a subsidiary company of Haike Group.
