SINGAPORE (ICIS)--GAIL India plans to shut its cracker and high density polyethylene (HDPE)/linear low density PE (LLDPE) swing plant at Pata, Uttar Pradesh state for maintenance in end March for 15 days, a company source said on Friday.
The nameplate capacity of the cracker is 500,000 tonnes/year, while the HDPE/LLDPE swing unit is 500,000 tonnes/year, with a production output capability of 450,000 tonnes/year, the source said.
The shutdown, coupled with the turnaround of Indian Oil, will likely exacerbate the existing LLDPE and HDPE tight supplies in the Indian domestic market, supporting prices in March, local traders said.
